When I turned 15 years old, I got a Canon AE1 which led me to try its possibilities and dream about taking photos like the ones I used to see in the National Geographic.
I wanted to be a merchant marine like my father. However, after I sailed during two summers when I was 18 and 19, I realized I didn’t want that life. Therefore, I started studying geology as I enjoyed going to the mountains and doing labs. And I could also take pictures.
But I had to quit early from university to work first in the shipbroking company of my father and later in coal trading.
For more than thirty years, I was chartering ships, buying and selling coals but always taking my camera with me.
