Between four to six tankers cross daily the Bosphorus Strait. For vessels of 250m LOA or more, it is only allowed its transit alone between 05:30 y 7:30 hours. It is compulsory to take pilots for vessels bigger than 150m LOA.

Pilotage is only compulsory at Dardanelles or Bosphorus straits, if the vessel goes to any port at the Marmara Sea or is bigger than 150m LOA. However, it is strongly recommended to take it, in any case, in order to minimize the risk of accident during the navigation through the straits.
